The best part of photographing love stories is when one single image can spark a feel that overwhelms and overjoys. Each of the images below has been selected by the client as their personal favorite picture from their entire session. I can take hundreds of images, but only you know the truth, the love and the meaning behind the tender touch of all-encompassing affection, the sweet smile, and the waterfall of tears. It’s often these subtle gestures that remind us of our relational roots with our forever human and make your love story beautiful and unique.
This photo is a testament to Kevin’s unique perspective that makes him stand out in a sea of photographers.
My Mom had been bugging Kevin ALL DAY to recreate a version of a shot he took during our engagement shoot. At the very end of the night, Kevin pulled my husband and I aside and said: “I know its dark now, but your Mom keeps asking for this shot and I cannot disappoint her! Can we go outside for a minute and see what we can get?.” The result is this photo, and I’m so glad my Mom was persistent in getting it. When we see this photo, we feel the calm excitement that comes from joining your life with someone. Shaka (my husband) is leading me as he leaps across the street, while I remain a composed figure. This photo is indicative of our own relationship, with Shaka being the one to eagerly lead me to things outside my comfort zone, and I’m the more analytical “let’s take a step back and evaluate” one. This photo is also a testament to Kevin’s unique perspective that makes him stand out in a sea of photographers, as it is incredibly composed and editorial without being pretentious.

When I see this photo now, I can still feel her embrace and that feeling of pure enamoration.
At this moment in time, nothing else mattered. We weren’t looking at the weather forecast, or making sure that all the wedding props were laid out just right. We just wanted to be together. This photo was taken a couple minutes before we lined up for the ceremony. She held me in close and we slowly swayed together without music. Nothing could possibly go wrong. Even when water poured on our outdoor ceremony, moments after this photo was taken, we were both just completely filled with love. When I see this photo now, I can still feel her embrace and that feeling of pure enamoration. I know that I love her with every part of me and that she loves me just the same.

I’m so grateful I hired someone to document us in this moment of our lives
Last fall, I moved away from Atlanta. One of the hardest parts was leaving my beloved, light-filled condo — my very own slice of heaven. I asked Kevin to come photograph me and my two favorites in our space, so I could always remember how that space made me feel. When I look at this photo, I see US. I see our little family. I see my goofy-ass dog, my handsome boyfriend, and me looking just about as happy and care-free as you’ll ever see me. I love this unposed photo so much. I’m so grateful I hired someone to document us in this moment of our lives, safe in our space. Happy.

I love this photo because my husband and I were so happy in that particular moment.
This was one of the last photos we took on our wedding day. It was very hot and very very humid! However, I love this photo because my husband and I were so happy in that particular moment. All the wedding planning was finally over! We didn’t have to worry about seating charts, catering, or flower arrangements. In that moment, all we had to focus on was each other and our brand new marriage.

This photo captures perfectly the pure joy and happiness we were both feeling knowing we were finally married and would be together from this point forward.
We took some time away from the guests to capture some final photos after the ceremony. There was so much planning and emotion building up to this day, especially given our entire relationship was lived on opposite sides of the country. In the photo, took off into the pasture, enjoyed some private time together, almost forgetting Kevin was still there. We were both taking it all in, the gratitude that we felt, the love in the air, and being fully present…just the two of us. This photo captures perfectly the pure joy and happiness we were both feeling knowing we were finally married and would be together from this point forward.

This picture completely encompasses what we are to each other, and what we’ll continue to be.
Every time I see this picture this immense, pure joy comes to heart and mind. Not only the joy of this beautiful moment, but the joy of love: I love this man holding my hand in a tux beside me, and he loves me, not only when I’m in a white dress but through every other moment of life. Looking at this picture, I see the immense love and laughter that is us, both now, and as we journey through life’s beauty and challenge together. This picture completely encompasses what we are to each other, and what we’ll continue to be.

This photo is incredibly special to me, because it shows me what I know and feel about my relationship on a daily basis: that it’s beautiful, strong, and real.
This is a moment from when I was reading my vows to Will and he was overcome with emotion and had to embrace me as he wept for a moment. This photo is everything. It absolutely takes me back to that moment where we were both overwhelmed with love for each other and standing heart-to-heart with no walls up as we promised our lives to each other. While our entire collection of photographs from our very nontraditional wedding is stunning and emotive, this photo is my favorite. I see our entire relationship summed up in one photo. Us, together – equal partners in everything, and there for each other no matter what. Intimate in ways that transcend the physical aspect – we are each other’s best friends and partners in crime. We lean on each other and draw strength from each other. This photo is incredibly special to me, because it shows me what I know and feel about my relationship on a daily basis: that it’s beautiful, strong, and real.
