HOOO boy. I’m not sure how to even start this blog post. I try to spend a little time at the beginning of every engagement blog post talking about the couple, and for the most part they all follow a basic template. I tell you that I photographed Liz and Lauren’s (FREAKING ADORABLE) engagement session in their neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York. Then I gush a little about how wonderful they are, what a perfect couple they make, and how happy and excited I am to be involved in their marriage journey, even if it’s in such a small way. But I promise you this: I believe all of that every single time. I really do adore every couple I shoot.
But with THIS couple, I’ll admit I’m at a loss for words. How do I describe these two people whom I admire so much?
So I’ll just write out what I know.
Liz and Lauren have a love that’s real and quiet and sometimes loud, but only when love needs to be loud. It’s the kind of love you hope you rise to in your own relationships. It makes you feel warm and comfortable, and it makes you wonder how it’s possible it ever didn’t exist before.
On the morning of the Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage across the entire country, I got an email from Lauren within minutes of the news breaking and all it said was “AHHHHHH!” That was the day my own marriage became legal in my home state, and every state. I had the same reaction that Lauren had. My marriage had been real in my heart for a long time but now it was finally real to everyone else. I can’t wait to have the same reaction for Lauren and Liz when their marriage becomes as real as mine does.
So, I met up with Liz and Lauren in their neighborhood in Brooklyn, New York, and together we made the sweetest engagement photos.
